Unsuccessful treatment of a beam:

  • Loss of material, caused by Dry rot (Serpula lacrymans)
  • Massive damages in the construction.
  • Identfication of Serpula lacrymans and differentiation to other woodliving fungi is only possible using PCR-Technology

Rotting wood is the fungi’s doing!

The following damages are classified:

  1. Brown rot
  2. White rot
  3. Musty rot

Designation as „Brown rot“ stems from the brown discoloring of the rotten wood.
Another term is „Destruction rot“
65 - 80% of all wood damages in and on buildings are caused by brown rot:

  • Dry rot
  • Cellar rot
  • Pore fungi
