Small enough to care and big enough to deliver

LAUS was founded in 1989 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, Germany, as a lab for environmental and hazardous substance analyses. In 1991 the company was converted into a GmbH with three managing partners. The Ecotoxicology and Environmental Fate work areas were established and in 1999 LAUS became a GLP test facility for these areas (category 4 and 5).

After adding new areas of work, in 2002 we received the GLP certification in 6 different categories: category 1 (Physico-chemical parameters), 3 (in vitro - Toxicology), 4 (Ecotoxicology), 5 (Environmental Fate), 6 (Residue Studies) and 8 (Analytics on Biological Materials).

In 2006 we moved into a new building in Kirrweiler (11 employees). The building was extended to a total of 1.500 m2 space in 2010 to make room for 29 employees working for LAUS. In the same year the GLP test category 9 (In vitro Studies on Mammalian Cells and Bacteria) was obtained.

Since 2012 Dr. Dietmar Kuhn is CEO and sole owner of the company.

Due to the steady growth, a third, state-of-the-art building complex was built in 2018. There are currently 75 employees working on 2,000 m2 of laboratory and office space, 30 of them are highly qualified scientists.

LAUS has developed into an internationally recognized testing facility whose customers particularly appreciate the globally recognized GLP studies. The group consists of:

  • LAUS GmbH in Kirrweiler, Germany
  • LAUS S.A.R.L. in Strasbourg, France
  • LAUS Group Ltd in Warrington, Cheshire, UK
  • LAUS Corp. in Las Vegas, NV, USA

Our laboratory can be divided into six different areas:

  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Physico-Chemistry
  • in vitro Toxicology
  • Mutagenicity/Genotoxicity
  • Ecotoxicology
  • Environmental Fate

As a private, independent laboratory, our qualified team will be able to meet the individual requirements of our customers and also ensure fast communication channels.

Our experience with registration authorities and our broad network of consultants and partner laboratories as well as our collaboration with toxicologists enable us to work with our clients to develop an individual testing scenario for regulatory purposes. The necessary studies are chosen in cooperation with toxicologists. This strategy shortens schedules, minimizes the cost of testing and also takes into account animal welfare.
