Small enough to care and big enough to deliver

LAUS was founded in 1989 and began at that time in the fields of ecotoxicology and environmental fate in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. In 1991, LAUS was converted into a GmbH with three managing partners and gained 1999 the GLP certificate for category 4 (Ecotoxicology) and 5 (Environmental Fate).

2003 we obtained the GLP certificate in 6 different categories: category 1 (Physico-chemical parameters), 3 (in vitro - Toxicology), 4 (Ecotoxicology), 5 (Environmental Fate), 6 (Residue Studies) and 8 (Analytics on Biological Materials).

Finally, in 2006 we moved into a new building in Kirrweiler (11 employees). Another GLP inspection followed in 2010, while the test category 9 (In vitro Studies on Mammalian Cells and Bacteria) was awarded.

Due to continuous growth of the business, the building was expanded in 2010 and includes till today 1500 m2. LAUS is an internationally recognized testing facility with approximately 50 employees, including 18 employees which make up our team of scientists. Since 2012, Dr. Dietmar Kuhn is the CEO and sole owner of the company.

Our laboratory can be divided into five different departments:

  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Physico-Chemistry
  • in vitro Toxicology
  • Mutagenicity/Genotoxicity
  • Ecotoxicology
  • Environmental Fate

We are a private and independent laboratory and therefore our team can comply with the individual requirements of our clients and assure fast communication channels. Due to our experience with registration authorities and our wide network of consultants and partner laboratories, we can work out an individual testing scenario for regulatory purposes together with our customer. The necessary studies are chosen in cooperation with toxicologists. With this strategy time-lines are shortened, costs for testing are minimised taking animal welfare into account.
